Highgate boasts a wealth of takeaway options
Curry has long been a popular takeaway choice for us Brits - whether it's the old Imperial connection or just the fact that nothing satisfies like a succulent dish in a spicy marinade. @NicolaLH recommends Kiplings on North Hill, and @paulwbradbury is a big fan of Holy Cow on Junction Road for their food and service. "You'd be hard-pressed to improve on Holy Cow for delivery," he tells us. "Vegetable pakora and some form of jalfrezi. Stick to the basics and job done."
I've long been a fan of Tiffin Tin further up Junction Road - this takeaway-only place was recommended to me when I first moved to Highgate, and has never let me down since on quality, taste and service. It's not the cheapest takeaway in London, but for me it's consistently one of the best.
Fans of oriental cuisine are also well-catered for in Highgate. @_staralfur_ recommends Dim T on Archway Road, a pan-Asian cafe serving noodles and Dim Sum. Lunch including noodles or salad with a drink is £6.95 at the Highgate branch, Monday-Friday 1-5pm.
Far and away the most popular takeaway in Highgate, recommended by almost everyone who responded, is the RRC Thai Cafe at the bottom of the hill. This small, unassuming outlet serves a range of soups, Thai curries, noodle dishes and stir fries, and is excellent value at around £5-7 for a main course. Deliveries can even be ordered online via hungryhouse.co.uk, meaning dining in with a tasty Thai meal is simplicity itself, and there's a 10% discount on pickup orders.
News reaches us, however, that the RRC could shortly be changing hands - we can only hope that the restaurant retains its excellent reputation among Highgate diners if and when it's sold on.
