An evening at the Flask: a review

This will probably come as no surprise to Highgate residents, but it's still worth repeating: the Flask really is a very nice pub indeed.

The Flask Tavern, Highgate
The first thing I noticed about the pub is that it is made up of about a dozen little rooms, all lit by candles and none too full to be pleasant. We found a table within a couple of minutes of arriving.
A friendly and helpful waitress wandered over to offer us drinks and menus, and so the second thing I noticed about the Flask was that it served about fifteen different dishes I really wanted to eat. Eventually I settled on two courses, a smoked eel and chorizo salad and a rabbit terrine, both of which turned out to be delicious.
The wine is good, the beer is good (and interesting, strange continental white beers and decent English bitters aplenty), the food is excellent, the staff are helpful and the ambience is absolutely perfect. If you want a quiet pint or a good meal in Highgate I can't recommend the Flask too highly.
