With more applicants registering at our offices on the first Saturday in

January than in the whole of December, the current demand shows no sign of

reducing. The lack of supply will continue to play a significant role in house

prices at least for the first quarter of 2010 — Joel Baseley, Rampton

Baseley, Wandsworth

The phone started to ring on January 4 and it has not stopped. At least 50

per cent of the calls are from City buyers, both chain-free and those wishing to

upsize. Before Christmas there was a good deal of reticence, but people are now

talking openly about bonuses — Lindsay Cuthill, Savills, Fulham

The ongoing shortage of stock, especially three and four-bedroom houses and

two-bedroom flats, continues to stimulate activity and drive prices higher —

The new homes market has seen consistent levels of activity in terms of new

applicants and while the sale of off-plan stock remains challenging, the

affordability and, in some cases, relative parity with the second-hand market,

in terms of pricing, means that it is still a very attractive prospect for

potential purchasers looking for more for their money — Nick Vaughan,

director of Hamptons International

Highgate is highly desirable and has seen increased demand for property in the last year .There are so many special locations and hidden gems in the area and huge demand for the Kenwood roads and fitzroy park homes.
