Haringey Council is now in the process of drafting the
borough’s transport strategy, which will set out Haringey’s transport
requirements over the next 20 years.
This strategy will take into account the priorities of the Mayor of London’s Transport Strategy, which are:to support economic development and population growth, to enhance the quality of life for Londoners, to improve the safety and security of all Londoners, to improve transport opportunities for all Londoners, and reduce transport’s contribution to climate change and improve its resilience.
Haringey residents were recently consulted on which transport issues were felt to be the most important in the borough. A survey was mailed to 1,500 to borough residents, and local people were also asked for their views at recent Area Assemblies and the annual Green Fair.
The plan will now set out the most important issues and proposals for how to deal with them. It will also include a three year investment programme to fund transport policies and projects. The Implementation Plan can be viewed here.
We'll keep you up to date with transport proposals in the area. For further information, contact frontline@haringey.gov.uk.
