Clean up, or face a fine
The Street Enforcement team work to reduce local environmental nuisances such as fly-tipping, unauthorised street trading, bonfires, and disposal of business waste. Each ward has its own officer, with the power to issue compliance notices, fixed penalty charges or even recommend prosecution for serious or repeat offences.
"As well as being unpleasant, dog fouling is also a serious health
hazard," says a Haringey spokesperson."Toxocara T Canis is a serious infection which can potentially
cause severe eye infection and, in the most serious cases, make humans
go blind." Failing to clean up after your dog carries a £75 fixed penalty.
The Street Enforcement Team is also currently looking into the issues of littering and dumped household rubbish in Highgate ward.

The bin men around this part of the world (lower Holloway) have been, if you'll pardon the pun, totally rubbish recently. We've had them showing up on odd days, leaving half the rubbish in everyone's front garden and arriving four days late.
I hate to say it, but I've noticed a lot more doggy do littering the streets as well. Either there's a canine tummy bug going on on a massive scale or something is being cut at a council level! Is this 'Big Society' in action perhaps? Take your own bin to the tip?

ReportI do hate it when binmen leave more mess than they clean up. Perhaps we need to get the team onto it!
