Weather outlook - cold but no snow forecast

It's been a snowy start to the week for many areas across the UK - and elsewhere in Europe - but so far, Highgate has been let off the hook. The forecast for this week is cloudy and cold - dropping to freezing on Thursday. Wind chill will keep temperatures feeling even colder, so wrap up warm if you're heading out!

Looking further ahead, February is set to be colder than average with northerly winds bringing in cold conditions. After a mild Christmas, this sudden burst of winter may come as a surprise, so don't be caught out - we still have a month or two to go before we're out of the wintry woods!
London typically tends to avoid some of the worst of the winter weather due to our relatively sheltered valley position and the heat of the London streets - but Highgate being on higher ground can often get hit with a snowfall, as we saw last year.
Make sure your car is topped up with anti-freeze, give your central heating its annual service if you haven't already, and invest in warm outer layers to fend off the cold. This week is going to be a nippy one!
