A local community who will help redesign the street layout of their neighbourhood held an outdoor consultation event last month.
The Gardens' area off Green Lanes in Harringay has been chosen for the Community Streets neighbourhood improvement project.
During celebrations to mark the tenth year of their community garden, residents were asked their views on their neighbourhood as part of Community Streets consultation. These will help shape plans for the area which will include innovative traffic calming, reclaiming space and promoting healthy and environmentally friendly transport modes.
During the celebrations streets were cleared of traffic to host fun and games for children and adults alike, including unusual bicycle rides and playing chess in the street.
Cllr Nilgun Canver, Cabinet Member for the Environment, said: "This was a fantastic afternoon, seeing so many people getting involved in the Community Streets project. I hope even more will come along to future events to make sure the eventual street design reflects their views."
The first year of the two year project will involve regular meetings with the local community to agree proposals and plan the street works which will begin next year.
