Highgate is about to get a whole lot more fashionable with the news that Kate Moss's planning application to Camden Council has been granted, and work on her mansion should be complete in time for a Christmas move.

The Croydon-born beauty purchased the property on The Grove at the start of this year and submitted plans for a new basement extension and CCTV cameras. The idea of structurally altering the Grade II listed property, a previous home of Romantic poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge, was not to everyone's liking.

Local groups including the Highgate Society have also spoken out recently about potential problems which could be caused to the environment by the recent spate of basement works in the area, but permission has been granted in the last six months to both Moss and neighbour Jude Law.

Kate and her husband, Kills guitarist Jamie Hince, will be delighted to move into the Georgian mansion after a year-long wait. Setbacks with the renovation work, including delays with planning permission, meant a planned autumn move could not go ahead; and Moss has reportedly yet to sell her St John's Wood home.

We'll be waiting with a warm Highgate welcome for Kate whenever she arrives, and hope she'll be singing in the New Year with us!
