Those Good Samaritans at Jackson's Lane will once again be throwing their doors open to older people in the community who are in need of lunch and a friend on Christmas Day. The theatre and arts centre has been hosting a Christmas lunch for elderly and disabled people who

Last year's lunch at Jackson's Lane provided welcome cheer to almost 150 older people.
would otherwise be spending the day on their own for thirty years, and expects to once again welcome over 100 older people from the local area this year.
The
day includes a three course Christmas lunch with all the trimmings, afternoon tea, presents and a lively programme of
entertainment throughout the day, with carols led by the Highgate and Crouch End Choral Societies.
James Tilston, Jacksons Lane's Chief Executive says, ''Christmas
can be a difficult time for those who spend the day on their own.
Thanks to the wonderful support of many valued volunteers, Jacksons Lane
is delighted to offer elderly people a home from home for the day,
where they can enjoy a traditional Christmas in the good company of
others. We look forward to bringing a sprinkling of Christmas cheer to
the local community.''
The community lunch is open to individuals or couples who live within a three
mile radius of the centre and who for reasons of age or disability are
in need of company on Christmas Day. It is organised and run a dedicated team of volunteers from the local community,
and is financed by donations from local
individuals, charities and businesses.
Jacksons Lane is looking for volunteer
drivers who can help pick up and drop off guests in the morning and
afternoon, and anyone with elderly care experience to help during the day. If members of the community would like to get involved, please contact jenni@jacksonslane.org.uk or call 020 8347 2417.
If you'd like to make a donation towards the running of the event, call 020 8341 4421.
