Haringey Council has welcomed recommendations by London First for a new Crossrail 2 route to link up London.
London First, a not-for-profit business membership organisation, says that Crossrail 2 – which would link south west and north east London – would be a key driver for economic growth in the capital.
The organisation's findings are backed by the Mayor of London and Lord Andrew Adonis, director of the Institute of Government.
In Haringey, Crossrail 2 could help link Tottenham and the Upper Lee Valley to the rest of London.
Haringey Council Leader Claire Kober said: "It is great news that Lord Adonis, London First and the Mayor of London have made so clear their support for Crossrail 2, which would be a powerful driver for economic growth in London and Haringey. We echo their calls for others to also throw their weight behind the proposals. Working with partners and the Mayor of London, the council is committed to investing millions of pounds into the transformation of Tottenham. We are clear that Crossrail option B – which would open up Tottenham and the Upper Lea Valley, further unlock Tottenham's development potential and transform travel for local residents – is the right option both for Tottenham and for London as a whole. We look forward to working with our partners, the Mayor and the government to help make Crossrail 2 a reality."
