With the party season well under way and just a few days to Christmas, here's everything you need to know to make sure you get home safely this weekend!
-
Travel festively, travel happily with a bit of forward planning.
Christmas Eve, 24 December
A normal Saturday service will run on the tubes until 7pm, and less frequently after this time. Last train times from Highgate will be 11.23pm southbound, and 00.03 northbound. If you're heading up from the West End, aim to be on a tube by 11.30pm to make sure you get home.
Buses will run a Saturday service. There will be no night buses, and 24-hour routes will stop shortly after midnight. London Overground trains will stop around 9.30pm. If you're planning to stay out late on Christmas Eve, it's best to book a taxi well in advance as this is a busy time of year for all cab firms.
Christmas Day, 25 December
There will be no tube, overground or bus services running on Christmas Day.
Boxing Day, 26 December
The tube drivers union ASLEF has called a strike for 26 December. If the action goes ahead, disruption to tube services is likely throughout Boxing Day. London Underground will attempt to run as many trains as possible but services may be delayed and sections of the Underground closed - visit www.tfl.gov.uk for live updates.
Tubes will otherwise run a reduced service on 26 December. There will be no tube service between Camden Town and High Barnet or Mill Hill East on Boxing Day; a rail replacement bus service will operate instead from around 8.30am. All tubes will finish at Sunday times.
A Sunday service will operate on all bus routes from around 8.30am. 24-hour and night bus routes will operate as normal.
No London Overground services will operate on Boxing Day.
Bank Holiday Tuesday 27 December
Tubes will not be running between Camden Town and High Barnet or Mill Hill East; a rail replacement bus will run instead. All other tube lines will run a Saturday service.
Buses will run a Sunday service on 27 December; night buses as 24-hour routes will run as normal. The London Overground will run a Saturday service.
Wednesday 28 December - Friday 30 December
Buses, tubes and Overground routes will run a Saturday service on these three days. Remember to bear this in mind if you're back at work!
Keep up to date with festive travel at this page, and have a safe and stress-free Christmas!
