Mayor Boris Johnson will be visiting Crouch End this Thursday to meet the creators of the Food From The Sky project at Thornton's Budgens. Food From The Sky is a community gardening project located on Budgens' roof, where varieties of vegetables, fruits and herbs are grown organically and sold in the supermarket every Friday.

Food From The Sky recently won the award for best Community project at the Positive Earth Awards for promoting sustainable activities in the community. The project is the brainchild of Azul-Valerie Thome and Andrew Thornton, and provides education and training as well as a growing space for peas, beans, berries and salad leaves.
The Mayor will visit on Thursday for about half an hour to talk about sustainable growing and Food From The Sky's mission to educate local people and preserve endangered seed varieties. The project was chosen for a visit from over a thousand supported by the Mayor's office this year.
