The Olympic legacy is alive and well in Haringey after the borough achieved its best results since 1991 at the London Youth Games' Cross Country event.
Haringey's team came third overall out of 33 borough teams that participated in the cross country races at the Games earlier this month.
46 Haringey youngsters took part in the races which took place on Hampstead Heath. They were supported by 18 Haringey volunteers and Sportsmakers who help organise the teams and provide chaperones at events.
At least two Haringey team members could have the Brazil Olympics in their sights after coming second and third in the male under 17s category out of 169 competitors. Brothers Paulos and Petros Asgodom, who train with coach Nick Anderson, won silver and bronze at the event.
The women's team also showed great promise for the future, coming third out of all 33 women's teams.
The Haringey teams are organised by the Haringey Sports Development Trust and the Haringey School Sports Association.
Children from primary and secondary schools in the borough who enjoy running can drop in to White Hart Lane Community Sports Centre any Tuesday 4-6pm for free sprint and endurance sessions.
